Key Features Of the Osaki OS-4000 Massage Chair
Computer Body Scan Technology, with Auto Leg Scanning
This cutting-edge technique allows the massage chair to scan a user’s body shape to effectively gauge his/her body size. It then adjusts to accommodate this size and offer a personalized, custom body massage for each individual user. Special attention is paid to the user’s calves and feet where the massager is capable of adjusting to suit the user’s leg length.
Intelligent S-Track Detection Technology
The in-built S-track rolling system is vertically integrated and is designed to deliver hand-like massages for a variety of body contours and spinal shapes. The massage motion works the user’s vertebrae to ensure all stress and strain is relieved, and relaxes the body’s nerves for improved spinal posture.
2 Stage Zero Gravity Positioning
Zero gravity is a technique that ensures the user’s body weight is spread out so that the body remains almost weightless during a massage. There are 2 adjustable levels, with the fully reclined level offering users a therapeutic effect which can be felt almost immediately.
Air Cell Massage Technology
This advanced technology consists of a highly unique design, where the system covers all key body areas including shoulders, calves, feet and arms. The air cells are specially programmed to inflate separately, causing the body to twist and deep stretch, with up to 5 intensity options. The result is a quality massage that leaves the user feeling refreshed and replenished.
6 Massage Styles
The Osaki OS-4000 combines the best of all worlds to provide you with option for up to 6 therapeutic massage styles. The available options are: rolling, kneading, lapping, Shiatsu, Swedish and a combo option. The auto-programs included also offer 6 different programs: healthcare, relax, therapy, smart, circulation and demo, to cater all the demands of your tired muscles and leave them replenished.
We Don’t Like
Chair can be a bit large and bulky which can take a lot of space in your environment.
Installation can be time-consuming and a bit tricky if not done right.
Lacks roller massage functionality in the foot massager.
Can’t beat the features for the price
We got this over a year ago. For the price, it’s unbeatable. I see people complaining of assembly. Except for the size of the components, the assembly is not that difficult. Easy to assemble if you’ve two people. Sometimes some tools fitting to some screws could be a bit difficult. Overall they’ve done a great job. Manual is pretty useless. For the amount of features on the remote, you’d expect everything to be detailed. But you don’t really need a manual for this except for the assembly. You can figure it out all by yourself. It’s got extensive custom controls and trust me except me and the dog 😉 , no one can figure out to use some of the controls. The programmed massages are good. I like one of two of them mostly and repeat the same. But the spot massages are great. The zero gravity is fantastic. There’s also a custom adjustment after setting to zero gravity you can lean the chair further back all the way to a steep angle and it’s very good for blood flow to your head. The chair is perfectly balanced although you would think at that you’d fall back, but you won’t. I love this aspect. Also love the heat for the back. Esp. if the back muscles are sore, the heat is really great.
If you try other brands for these features it may cost well over 5K. So for less than 3K, you can’t beat it. We didn’t see any problems with the mounted remote. The mini remote is a IR remote so you’ve to point it to the main remote. They could have made it RF remote and it would have been fantastic, so you don’t have to take your hand out of the chair everytime to adjust during massage.
The chair is heavy and mind you, make sure you put a padding or something under the 4 corners of the chair , otherwise the material leaves a stain on the carpet, which is hard to remove.
It’s not a massage therapist, but I can afford to use it daily
I bought this a couple weeks ago, and I’m really happy I did. The one star off is for two issues: First, at 5’10 and 200+ lb, it’s a bit on the small side. Not terribly so, but it took a couple tries to learn to sit comfortably in it in the seated position. Once you’ve stretched out though – heaven!
The second issue is that the thai stretch mode REALLY doesn’t work for tall people. I tried this mode in an Inada chair locally, and it was amazing! This chair INSISTS on starting that mode with the footrest fully drawn in, which means that instead of having a full leg in the leg rest, it catches me by the calves only, which is not pleasant. The shoulder pillows too are not really big enough to catch me full by the shoulders, so basically I end up sliding rather than stretching.
Beyond these two issue though, it’s pretty sweet. There are a terrific range of options, so I can get just about any massage I have in mind. Even the Muscle tension mode is relaxing enough I can almost fall asleep, while also doing a decent job of killing knots, over time.
No massage chair is ever going to replace what a good massage therapist can do, but with fibromyalgia, migraines, and chronic shoulder/back problems, I can’t afford a therapist as often as I need work. This chair has knocked out a couple of pretty bad knots for me (each took a few sessions) and I think that if I use it daily, I’ll be in better shape overall. Since I should need fewer massages, I’ll be saving money in the long run – especially considering my daughter and husband also have pain issues this can help with.
Expectations Far Exceeded
I just received this today. Delivered on time and it was every bit as simple to assemble as advertised. Ths is my initial review and wanted to make public that this chair exceeded all of my expectations. It is always risky buying a product online because you don’t have the opportunty to judge workmanship and overall quality until after purchase. In one short statement, this is a beautifully made, high quality product. This looks and feels a lot more expensive than the price and I base my comparison reference from looking at competitor models in stores that cost several times more. I would judge that this chair is at least equal to models I have physically seen that cost over $10,000. If you are looking for a full body massage chair, this will not disappoint. It works…. rollers are strong; heating elements work as advertised. My only comment that is not necessarily a criticism, but rather a statement of fact is that this chair is extremely heavy. There are rollers on the rear for movement, but the reality is that it is a two person job. All I have to say is that all the money spent for personal massage services will likely end. This is a total body massage machine.
I use it for just several day so far so, it’s just first impression for now. The chair is of very good quality: solid design, components fit well (it comes disassembled), leather (or whatever it is) is of good quality. Chair has a lot of settings which I didn’t yet investigate. Though, there are four presets you can use right away. I liked “Circulation” and “Relax”. Tried “Smart” but found it too aggressive – feels like you’re being tortured thru crushing. There are also “subsets” you may choose with just one click of a button – “Back & Lumbar” is my favorite.
I’d also note “Zero-G” mode. It’s advertised as a key feature of the product and it’s really cool. You may enable this mode for some massage types but not for all. In this mode chiar puts you in kind of horizontal position. It’s comfortable and massage feels much better. If you gonna use this mode you must ensure there are at least 23″ of free space behind the chair. So, you cannot put it close to a wall.
I LOVE THIS CHAIR
I can not speak as to how this chair compares with others. I have never owned a massage chair before this one but holy smokes do I love this one. If you are on the fence about spending the money for a massage chair my vote would be to do it. Before purchasing this I had sat in the chairs at various pedicure places, the mall, airport, etc… You can’t even compare; this chair blows those away.
This chair is mid-range in price but offers a GREAT massage. Assembly wasn’t as bad as I expected after reading other reviews. We watched the video beforehand so we knew what we were getting into. If you only went off the broken English written instructions I could see there being problems. This chair is very heavy so I would suggest assembling it very close to where you plan on keeping it.
Very relaxing, well-made chair
This chair offers plenty of options, two levels of zero gravity, seat vibration, and much more. It comes in four pieces–the main unit, the back, and the two sides. Assembly was easier than I thought it would be, at least after I got the sides on. That was the hardest and most time consuming because a bar seems to be blocking the back screws, You really have to manuever to get those in. The secret is to get the bolt started, then slide the thick portion of the tool that is provided onto the bolt and over the bar. Getting the tool back off after you tighten the bolt is a bit difficult, but once the sides are on, the rest is relatively easy. This is a very heavy chair, though, so you will need someone to help you move it (the base portion at least–that’s where most of the weight is located), The remote is a bit complicated–check out YouTube for a tutorial on how to use it. The detachable remote is handy so that you don’t have to remove your arm from the arm rest to make adjustments to speed or intensity. This chair is great for people with back problems, or for someone who just likes a good massage.
Everyone loves it , even the cat!!
Very nice, sophisticated and seemingly decently made massage unit. Perfect match for the much more expensive Inadas.
Lots of options, although not perfect. I could wish for a few programming capabilities but I am really nitpicking here.
All functions are adjustable within a fairly broad range, it should please almost everybody.
Incredible variety of different types of massage. Worth exploring because the manual, as most Chinese manuals, stinks.
The unit is heavy and difficult to assemble. It is not complicated, the components are just very heavy.
From my own experience I should warn prospective buyers that this IS NOT A THERAPEUTIC UNIT, it is a purely relaxation and pleasure machine.
Although I have no chronic deficiencies, I do sprain my back and other parts occasionally, this machine not only does not treat
such injuries but it actually may seriously aggravate them. If you have any health issues especially physical issues most definitely consult with your physician before buying and/or using this unit.
Good Chair, But….
We bought 3 of them for 3 families. 2 of them are good and 1 of them have something broken right after the installation. and it has been confirmed it is the assemble issue by manufacturer, some parts need to be replaced. and if still doesn’t work, we have to take it back to the store to replace the Base, enen the seller is kind enough, but it is not easy to carry it back and forth over 100 KMs…
The installation is NOT easy, even there is only 4 screws for 2 arms, it is really hard to put the screw straight because the samll space.. I believe I am handy enough, (I finished the basement by myself), but the first screw took me 40 mins… and I spent more than 2 hours to get everything done.
Same thing for my other 2 friends, they spent a lots of time and they said the same thing.. really hard to install the arms..
But after that, the chair is great to use. So comfootable… Good chair for that price….
I am afraid to move it to another room, because the door is not wide enoug to get it out, I have to uninstall the airms and re-install it….
Check the size of the door before you make the dicesion where to put….
Needs some work but awesome chair
My original post is below. I am revising it. My husband failed to tell me that it had additional padding you can remove for more intense work. Also in full tilt back its more intense. Changing to 5.
I have this chair. 2 complaints. I am 5.4 .5″
I cannot get my arms entirely into the arm squeeze because the shoulders/bottom of shoulder plate comes down too far. It need to have some adjustment. 2nd complaint. Full stenght and intensity is not a DEEP muscle massage. It needs to go deeper at full 5.
That said. It pulls, stretches, heats, tilts, vibrates, kneads, slaps, etc etc. It has so many way to set it. Its awesome. I can live with arm thing but Osaki you need to make 5 intensity/strength… deep and intense.
Otherwise it would be a solid 5.
A Must Have!!!
This is a Fabulous Massage Chair! It reclines to the max, massages nice and hard (depends on how hard you want it) and relaxes you into a deep sleep! This is the best medicine anyone can possibly want! I’m in Love with my Osaki.
